Build this heirloom garden shed by yourself in just a week! Our popular Heirloom Garden Shed Digital Plan comes complete withmeasured drawings, a gang-cutting sequence, jig template, and complete details so you’ll be well prepared to build one of your own.
A shed with lots of extras! This shed is well named, because, like a genuine heirloom, it’s a quality outbuilding that will age beautifully, add value to your property, and serve you well for years. It’s spacious inside with ample room to hang tools and park all of your lawn equipment. The half-shingle, half-clear roof and attractive windows offer big advantages over ready-made models.
All you may need to start are concrete blocks on pads. To be safe, check the site before you start. If it isn't adequately level, you will need to do preliminary site work or consider poured-concrete piers. But, all you may need to do is prepare pads of compacted gravel for setting the blocks.
A basic floor plan and simple framing. After the floor framing is complete and secured, the walls go up. The wall assembly consists of 4x4 top and bottom plates, 4x6 corner posts, and 4x4 wall posts. With the basic framing complete, the roof trim goes on, followed by the roofing.
Topping it off! While the roof is more of a challenge, a handy layout jig (instructions included) makes the work easier. Half of the roof is covered with cedar shingles, while the other half is covered with clear polycarbonate panels to maximize incoming sunlight.
Lots of windows made it really attractive. After the roof is complete, install the door, the windows, and the sill. To complete the shed, install the trim and siding and add some plantings to marry the structure to the site – and you’re ready to move in!
